The Echo application is used for adult echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echo (TEE) and stress echo reporting. A routine resting full echocardiogram report and a stress echo report can be done alone or both in combination.
Measurement tabs
There are two measurement tabs. They show all measurements received from the US machine. The tabs are useful as an overview.
Measurements are color and text coded
- Numbers without a colored background are within the normal range or do not have a normal range defined
- Yellow indicates out of normal range values (high or low)
- Red indicates a number so far out of the normal range as to be very unlikely or impossible and represents some sort of data entry error
- An underlined number indicates that that measurement was performed more than once
- A number with a purple background is calculated and will be re-calculated if its primary data is modified
Interpretation tab
General sub tab
This video is an overview of general functionality of the Interpretation General tab which is the main tab sonographers and doctors use to create reports. It covers:
- The Copy from Previous and All Else Norm buttons and their use
- General layout
- Specific functions inside each cardiac structure
Wall Motion
The wall motion tool allows the user to create a graphic that will be in the final report and also a text description. In Echo it works for resting and stress wall motion as well as stress diagnosis.
- The buttons along the top (Hyperdynamic, Normal, Hypokinetic and All Else Normal) change the diagram globally.
- To indicate regional differences, first select something from the legend. In this case, Hypokinetic.
- Then click into the bullseye or the other parts of the diagram. As you do that, they will color. Text will generate into the report on the right.
- Stress wall motion works the same way
- Stress diagnosis compares the resting and stress diagrams. Click the Auto-Calc Diagnosis button to compare resting and stress.
- Click and drag can be used to highlight many sections at once vs clicking individually.
- Order of action does not matter - the text reflects the information chosen in the diagram. You can click Normal and still add hypokinetic areas and the report will be correct.
- .You can edit the text but if you change the diagram, the text will update.
Stress Echo
The stress echo tab has 3 columns
- Stress information (exercise and pharmacologic) including incomplete and completed protocol options
- ECG including resting and stress arrhythmia and ST T changes plus Duke treadmill score calculations
- Echo results including resting findings, stress findings with options for hibernation and regurgitation assessments
Congenital
The congenital tab is for adult findings (there is a separate application for pediatric and fetal echo). The most common use case for this tab is ASD and VSD assessment, but other congenital anomalies are included for completeness.
