Overview
Data on the Patient tab usually comes from other sources - EMR, modality, RIS, etc. Required fields are marked with a red *.
Demographics
Assigned sex and DOB are required as they are used in many calculations. Age is calculated from DOB.
EMPI (Enterprise Master Patient Index) is used when the hospital uses that technology and will be present when EncaptureMD receives orders from this index is received. It should not be edited if present.
Patient Identifiers
A patient can have more than one identifier (PID), especially in situations where two hospitals or practices with different numbering methods merge. EncaptureMD can store as many as required and reference the patient by any of their numbers.
Normal patient is a standard non-emergent work flow where the patient is known. Emergency Case (Patient Known) is like Normal Patient but is considered a Stat case. Emergency Case (Patient Unknown) is a temporary password assigned by EncaptureMD that must be replaced with a real PID once the patient is identified and a PID assigned in the EMR.
Patient Address
This section is optional. It can be used to add the patient's address to an electronic submission or to include it on a patient's study report.
Contact
This section is used most frequently with the Scheduling Module. It is also used for nursing documentation. It provides the system with a way to store patient, family and friend contacts as required. This information may be held in the EMR and without the Scheduling module, is not usually used.
- This is the patient's email address
- These are patient phone numbers. Type is mobile, landline, etc.
- This section lists related contacts, their name, phone number and relationship. Type is a field that is populated based on nursing documentation fields and indicates things like legal proxy, transporter, etc.
Referring List
This is similar to the list on the study tab, except this list is all referrings who have been associated with this patient. Click +Referring to Patient to add a row to this table.
Note: Adding a referring to this table does NOT add it to the study. That must be done from the Study tab. It is not common to add referrings to this list. Instead, add them to the study and they will also be added here.
