Introduction to the sheath/catheter manager

Updated on

This manager allows an administrator to configure sets of sheaths and catheters and associate them with specific procedures. It is possible to use with any invasive procedure, but it mostly commonly associated with the EP procedure application.

Click here to see how to use the sheath/catheter presets in an application.

Create and Setup tab

  1. To get to the sheath/cath manager, click on its icon in the toolbar
  2. Choose the app to edit. Use the buttons at the top of this column to create new sets if required. An app can have more than one set. This can be useful if different hospitals/labs in the same system use different sheaths or catheters.

Right click

Right clicking on the set allows for edit (same as double clicking) copy with ability to paste but only within the same application and export. Import is a button at the top of the first column.

Sheaths

+ Vessel adds a new row. +Location adds a new column. Use the trash can icon to delete a location column and right click to remove a row.

Once a new row or column is added, it can be named and then the number of sheaths to be placed in these areas can be added.

Sheath types

Click +Sheath Type to add a new row and fill out data. Right click to remove a row. All 3 columns must have data.

Catheter destination

Click +Destination to add a new row. Right click to delete. The Phrase to join is used to construct phrases that can go into the report.

Catheter

Click +Catheter to add a new catheter row. Right click to delete.

Sheath Preset tab

Once the sheaths and catheters are defined, they can be used in presets.

Click +Sheath Preset to add a row. Right click on a row to copy or delete.

The column headers are constructed from the sheath preset above. The values in each combo box come from the sheath types list. Not every cell in this table needs to have a value. There is no limit to the total number of presets, but given that users can adjust the preset after it is set allows for flexibility. The balance is to do the minimum number that provides clinical functionality required.

Catheter Preset tab

  1. Click +Catheter Preset to add a new preset to the first column.
  2. Adjust the number of catheters allowed in the presets in general
  3. Give the new preset a name. Choosing the name is a clinical decision. Discuss with the local clinical team or ask the EncaptureMD Clinical team for hel
  4. If Number of catheters is 4, there will be four rows in the table. Each will have a catheter which comes from the Catheter preset and a destination which comes from the Destination preset.  The phrase is used to construct nurse notes if required.
  5. Right click to copy or delete a preset.
