Using the Referring MD Manager

Updated on

The Referring MD manager allows an admin user to maintain referring doctors/practices/sites.

Data may have been entered into cases or imported live from the EMR/HIS/RIS through HL7. An Excel file can also be used to bulk import referring information.

Access to the Referring MD Manager requires Admin access. Non-Admin users can still configure Referrings from within a study.

  1. To open the referring MD manager, click on Admin from the landing page and choose Referring MD.
  2. To add a new referring, click the +Referring MD button and fill out the details on the right (3). A fax number must be added to the phone number list and the Receive Study by Fax checkbox must be enabled.
  3. The details section is used to create a new or edit an existing referring record. Its History tab logs all changes to that specific referring.
  4. The referring MD list can be imported from another system or exported to a file. When a customer first goes live, importing this data, if it exists,  is a typical step.
  5. Duplicates are unavoidable since end users can enter referring information in cases. To minimize duplicates, search before adding and make sure the referring's name is spelled correctly.  Please read this article for more information on how to merge referrings. This should be done routinely.

Right click

Right click has 2 options -disable and hard delete. If a referring is disabled, it can be re-enabled using the Show Disabled checkbox at the top left of the screen and then right clicking on the disabled referring to re-enable.

Disable is best used for situations where the referring is assigned to studies so that reference will not be lost.

Hard delete should be used when the information is known to be incorrect. Hard delete will remove that referring from the database plus any references within studies.
