How do I change the date and time formatting of a demographics date field?

Updated on

In the Developer, dates have different token formats that can be dragged into a sentence or report. In the Admin, demographic tokens like the date performed only have a single token that provides the format DD/MM/YY hh/mm/ss.  But these tokens are responsive to manually adding modifiers to the token. But, since mid 2023, it is now impossible to edit a token.

Editing a token

The "trick" to editing an un-editable token is realizing the  HTML version does not have the edit protection. To edit the token:

(1) Note that the study date token is not editable.

(2) click the <> button to go to the HTML editor

With the source code editor open, manually edit the (1) token, then click (2) save.

Date formatting

Tokens are modified based on examples below - the formatting must be exact and surrounded by ''.

  • Default is 12/24/22 11:45AM - this is the .value token.
  • MM/DD/YY is 12/24/22
  • MM/DD/YYYY is 12/24/2022
  • dddd,MMMM do YYYY is December 24,2022
  • MM/DD/YY HH:mm is 12/24/22 11:45AM
